As promised last week, I am back with part 2 of the IBM experience series. In this part, I would like to talk about IBM’s Hybrid Cloud & AI strategy.

In July 2019, IBM closed its landmark acquisition of $34B with Red Hat. The acquisition positioned IBM as a leader in Hybrid Cloud and AI while extending Red Hat’s open-source innovation to a broad range of customers. You may think what’s the correlation between Red Hat acquisition and Hybrid Cloud & AI strategy. Keep reading to get the answer to this question.

In today’s world, customers are dealing with multiple challenges in managing their workloads. For example, #1 — How to integrate data and workload running in various public Clouds, on-prem or private Clouds? #2 — How to get the best from every public Cloud service provider?. #3 — How to avoid performance impact and additional cost of data and application traffic movement to various clouds, on-prem? Etc. Because of these challenges, the customers are looking for a Hybrid solution. The hybrid approach allows you to integrate the best features and functions from any cloud or traditional IT environment and tap the open-source community’s unmatched pace and quality of innovation. In June 2019 report, Forrester said that companies could accelerate development by up to 66% using IBM and Red Hat solutions together. Also, more than 90% of Fortune 500 companies trust Red Hat. That is why IBM invested billions in the Red Hat acquisition.

The new generation of hybrid Cloud provides a common platform across all of your Cloud, on-premises, and edge environments. That means you can skill once, build once and manage from a single pane of glass. IBM provides you with the most comprehensive and consistent approach to development, security, and operations across hybrid environments.

In fact, a hybrid cloud approach can offer up to 2.5x more value than a public cloud-only approach. With our hybrid cloud value calculator, you can determine the value that a hybrid cloud approach can bring to your business. Read this whitepaper for additional information.

AI-powered software, designed to accelerate application modernization with pre-integrated data, automation, and security capabilities. IBM Cloud Paks deliver the industry’s only hybrid cloud platform experience, enabling business and IT teams to build and modernize applications faster across any cloud or IT infrastructure.

If you are thinking of building AI solutions, there is no better service in the market than IBM Watson. As a result, Gartner has positioned IBM as a leader in the 2021 Magic Quadrant for Cloud AI Developer Services and the 2021 Magic Quadrant for Data Science and Machine Learning Platforms.
